To get users familiar with VR, we designed a simple and easy to use interface. To provide an immersive experience, we added reactive sound effects and surrounded the user with sky scenery. The user controls a virtual character, this adds a sense of urgency and makes the game more relatable.
"Running Tube" presents a unique physical controller for VR games. The controller consists of a hollow physical tube with physical balls inside it. The player holds the tube horizontally using both hands, tilting the tube makes the balls roll freely inside it, which in turn, controls the character.
As opposed to many other VR experiences in which the controller is an input mechanism and the only output is computer-generated, our unique design inherent feedback to the tilt. We view the perceptual gap between the VR world and the tangible experience as a design space.
